About Red Hat Inc.
The Red Hat Engineering team is looking for an experienced developer to join us as a Senior Software Engineer in our growing GPU/Accelerator team to build the GPU/Accelerator infrastructure that supports AI/ML and GPU compute frameworks. In this role, you will help to build, support, develop and maintain the GPU and accelerator related components for Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL). You will also work across the organization to create the foundation for our layered products, such as Red Hat OpenShift AI and Red Hat Inference Server. The primary components include the Linux kernel (with Rust for Linux support), along with accelerator and graphics frameworks such as Vulkan.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build, support, develop and maintain the GPU/Accelerator infrastructure for AI/ML and graphics compute frameworks
- Participate in and collaborate with the Linux kernel upstream communities (such as DRM and Rust for Linux), including working directly with hardware vendor engineers
- Work closely with the other members of the team, external partners and with the upstream communities related to GPU and accelerator infrastructure and driver development
- Optimize the GPU/Accelerator infrastructure to maximize the performance of the GPU stack
- Support the DRM kernel subsystem in RHEL
- Create and maintain upstream projects for GPU and Accelerators
- Triage and fix kernel and userspace driver issues
- Develop functional and regression test cases
- Support internal AI products use of GPU and Accelerators
Requirements
- Strong expertise in C and Rust
- Knowledge of the Git version control system
- Familiarity with the Linux kernel in general
- Familiarity with the DRM and Rust subsystems
- Upstream development experience, including familiarity with upstream processes
- Familiarity with GPU/Accelerator software stacks
- Strong English written and verbal communication and organizational skills
The following are considered a plus
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field; Master's degree or PhD is a plus
- Experience in operating systems integration and tooling; RHEL experience is a plus
- Familiarity with compute APIs such as CUDA, ROCm, etc.
