Software Engineering Intern
Luminovo
Active - posted 3 days ago
Job Description
About the Role
We are looking for a Software Engineering Intern to join our "Sourcing, Demand" team and help us build our electronics supply chain platform (check out this blog post for some more context on what we are building).
You will be treated as a regular member of our product team and get to enjoy the full responsibility (and challenge) of shipping features end-to-end (from the first brainstorming to shipping it to production). Our past interns have gone on to work for large tech companies, start their own startups, or (our favorite 😇) join us full-time.
Our tech stack
We always try to use the best tools available for the job. Don't worry, we don't need you to be familiar with all of these, but we're looking for someone who's proficient at least in **Rust. **Being knowledgeable in anything on top of Rust is a plus!
- Main monolith is written in Rust (using actix-web as our web framework)
- React and Typescript for frontend
- PostgreSQL for persisting our data
- Redis for caching and queues
- Kubestack, terraform, flux and flagger for GitOps
- Sentry and Honeycomb for monitoring and observability
- garden-io for developing on Kubernetes
- Azure for cloud computing
Please note: We only offer working student positions after you have done an internship with us for a minimum of 3 months.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver user value consistently and reliably by contributing to the development efforts of one of our cross-functional product teams.
- Accelerate product development through technical growth by building expertise across our software stack (React, TypeScript, Rust, Postgres, Kubernetes).
- Improve team efficiency and collaboration by actively participating in retrospectives, dailies, and other agile ceremonies.
- Contribute to a strong team culture by embodying Luminovo’s operating principles in your day-to-day work and interactions.
- Continuously raise the bar for engineering excellence by proposing improvements to tools, processes, and technical approaches based on your learnings.
- Create meaningful product impact by developing a deep understanding of our users and the electronics industry, and translating that into product decisions.
Requirements
Just so you know - we purposefully did not create a standard list of minimum qualifications for this role. We care much more about your motivation and ability to help us accelerate technical progress than we care just about your CV. If you're interested to find out more about why we banned requirements from our performance profiles - see here.
Compensation
We want to offer compensation that aligns with industry standards. To maintain a transparent and fair approach to compensation, the salary ranges for all positions are determined based on market benchmarks and a comprehensive leveling framework.
For this role, the monthly salary ranges from €2,400 to €2,700 depending on the leveling we’ll establish with you throughout the hiring process. This range might differ in other countries within our +/- 2h time zone remote work area.
What we promise
- We greatly value psychological safety and honest feedback. We always expect you to speak up and share your ideas about what we can improve within the company, and take these views to heart.
- We do routine 1:1's with your supervisor, retrospectives, and insight hours to make sure we are constantly getting better at what we do, all while fostering employee mental health and wellbeing.
- Personal development is something strongly encouraged by Luminovo, so there are no fixed budgets when it comes to things that will further your personal growth (education, trainings etc.), just ask and we usually say yes!
- We offer a flexible working environment, we appreciate everyone's time and preferred ideal setup in terms of working hours.
- We offer fully remote working (our only requirement for remote working is that you are within +/-2 hours of CET). Our Luminerds work from Amsterdam, Nairobi, Verona, Berlin, Munich, …
- When it comes to our take on parent support, Luminovo happily contributes to the childcare costs of Luminerds.
- We're excited to revolutionize the electronics industry – and we want you to be too. That's why all full-time Luminerds receive strong and fair stock option packages. We also support you in finding your perfect (remote) set-up.
About Luminovo
Luminovo is the first electronics supply chain platform that brings together all data, processes, and players in one place. Our software enables cloud-based collaboration among electronics designers, manufacturers, distributors, and suppliers in the trillion-dollar electronics industry. Read more about why this is exciting here!
So far, 200+ active customers and 40+ product partners globally are working with us towards the same goal. Backed by top-tier investors Cherry Ventures and General Catalyst/LaFamiglia, Chalfen Ventures, and others, we have raised more than €20 million.
We are a mix of product enthusiasts, people advocates, business masterminds, and engineering experts. Our current team not only includes graduates from institutions such as Stanford University and University of Cambridge, but also motivated individuals with rather unconventional CVs who are burning for what they do.
We are a remote-first company headquartered in Munich. Our brilliant team is spread across Munich, New Jersey, Calgary, Berlin, London, Valencia, Nairobi, Verona, ... 🌍
Our core principles: putting people first & building great things.
We provide an authentic environment that empowers all Luminerds from various backgrounds to prosper, succeed, and make a difference. We explore curiously who our people are, what they excel at, and what makes them unique. Combined, our individual uniqueness drives our success as a team.
